Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for working with the business development team in building an adequate base of business by identifying, pursuing, and developing relationships with current and potential clients interested in a long-term business association where appreciation exists for the added value brought by our company. Additionally, this role is responsible for the development of sales leads, acquiring new business, new business proposals, presentations, owner contract negotiations, and market research. This job may be asked to participate in strategic planning, advertising and public relations. This role may have direct supervisory responsibilities of marketing support personnel. The Business Development Manager reports to the most senior level Business Development employee or as directed by the Business Unit President.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in marketing, construction
engineering, and/or business. A Masters Degree or MBA is helpful but not required.
A background in marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, or engineering is essential.
A minimum of five years of construction experience is necessary for this position, as is experience with a congruent level of job responsibility.
Skills
Salesmanship and the ability to effectively communicate is important for this position as well as knowledge of construction practices and development problems, including estimating basics, potential costs, and fee structures.
Negotiation skills, and organizational skills are a must.
Individual must be a self-starter and have the initiative and motivation to work independently.
