No history of child abuse or negligence.
Current Nebraska LPN or RN license.
Successfully pass required background checks.
Regular and dependable in person attendance is required and is considered a condition of employment.
Essential
Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized medical care to assigned student(s) with special needs as defined in the Individual Health Plan.
Provide support to the student(s) to achieve the student's educational goals as directed by the classroom teachers.
Provide care to students using nursing standards, nursing procedures, and ESU 3 policy in accordance with the Individual Health Plan.
Assess each individual student's health status and needs for the school day.
Collaborate to adapt a plan of care for the day based on assessments.
Develop individual health and emergency action plans for identified students when needed.
Respond to behavioral or medical crises as a part of the classroom team using approved Brook Valley techniques and strategies.
Administer medication and ensure medication administration procedures are in place to meet legal and best practice expectations.
Display a professional and caring attitude in dealing with students, staff and parents.
Display knowledge, critical thinking as well as practice risk management and safety precautions.
Communicate confidential information only on need-to-know basis and discuss this in areas where information cannot be overheard.
Accept personal responsibility for work included in job description and assistance with other students.
Assist other students in the classroom as directed by the classroom teacher.
Serve as a health liaison from the school to home, to health care providers and to community resources.
Initiate, review and maintain student health records.
Maintain license requirements within the field.
Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel Policies and Employee Handbook.
Monitor the regular maintenance of all medical equipment & supplies.
Communicate areas of concern to the building administrator.
Provide your own transportation to fulfill responsibilities of the position.
Other duties as assigned.
